I’m gonna need an iPod…
…to put all my music on.
Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope your Christmas was as delightful as mine. Among other things, I received three very nice CDs from my family. I’ll begin with - Cloudburst - a collection of choral works by Eric Whitacre sung by the choir Polyphony directed by Stephen Layton. One word - Incredible. I knew my laptop speakers would not do the CD justice, so for the last hour I have have been sitting in my room with headphones on absorbing this recording. Eric Whitacre’s musical genius combined with Polyphony’s clear, pure tone make this one a winner by me. My favorite tracks are #1 - “i thank You God for most this amazing day,” #6 - “When David Heard,” #8 - “Cloudburst,” #11 - “Water Night,” and #14 - “Lux Aurumque.” This is not to say that I don’t like the others - I do - but these deserve special mention.
My other two CDs are “The Most Relaxing Piano Album in the World…Ever,” a 2-disc collection of various classical piano works performed by the greats in the world of piano performance, and “Fireworks,” a recording by the Empire Brass. All three CDs are great! Thanks Mom and Andy!
On another note, I followed through with one of my personal Christmas traditions again today. Whenever I receive an article of clothing, I put it on and wear it while we open all the other gifts (unless it is meticulously packaged or something). Even my stocking. In fact, my stocking is still on my foot. It’s kind of a funny thing to do, but my mom made sure I opened up my pair of leather gloves early on. Lemme tell ‘ya … it’s hard unwrapping a CD with leather gloves on, but I managed.
I leave you with this seasonal greeting and best wishes for a politically-correct period of time…
