Mini marshmallows on toothpicks over a pineapple candle. You’ll never guess what this picture is… so I’ll tell you. This is me toasting mini-marshmallows on toothpicks over a pineapple candle. [waits for you to stop scratching your head]. Now I’ll tell you why. I was bored. Normally this is not what I do for fun when I’m bored, but the power was out, you see… so we had about 50 candles lit. Perhaps 12 hours in the dark was finally getting to me… And yes, we did make s’mores out of them. And no, they didn’t taste nasty. Quite good actually.
MacBook Pro running VistaGranted, this one is not so random, but it’s not what you normally see here. This is my brother’s MacBook Pro running Vista. They say that macs actually run Vista faster than PCs - and I believe it, too.

Step by Step Guide to Internet Explorer 4 from Microsoft Press! This is my personal favorite. I was at our local library today, so I decided to peruse the .004 - .005 section (that’s books on computers and programming for those not familiar with that section of the Dewey Decimal system). Some of those books, however, just need to go. I almost laughed out loud … but then I remembered I was in the library. Now that I’m not in the library anymore, I’m laughing. Very hard. What’s better is that this book is over half an inch thick!

Cell Phone Camera Classics

Posted by Peter on December 13th, 2007

If you want to take a digital photo of any decent quality, a 1 Megapixel cell phone camera is probably not the best way to go. BUT, for those instances when humor comes your way unexpectedly and a real camera is not to be found . . . they do the trick pretty well.

I present to you now “The Best of Peter Anglea’s Camera Phone 2007.”

In the practice shacks at BJU… A very unique approach to the traditional front porch planter box. In other words, don’t bother honking… flash your headlights instead.

BJU - Future home of the world’s largest kazoo choir

Turkey Bowl ‘07 KazoosYou heard it right. Seeking to follow up their past success with Christmas carol singing, the Inter-Society Council of Bob Jones University is sponsoring an attempt to break the world record for the largest kazoo ensemble. Here’s the release from the ISC…

The Inter-Society Council will sponsor an attempt to break the world record for the largest kazoo ensemble Nov. 17, 2007, during the halftime show of the BJU Turkey Bowl. BJU students, faculty, staff, and administration are invited to participate!

The Alumni stadium is able to seat 4,000 spectators, and with additional bleachers placed near the field, the Inter-Society Council is confident BJU will be able to break the world record. Kazoos will be passed out free of charge before the game so everyone can participate. Mr. Mike Shrock will lead the BJU family in the attempt.

The official record stands at 2,679 people, and was set on Dec. 31, 2006 in Rochester, NY. The most recent attempt to break it was Oct. 5 in Canton, OH with approximately 3,600 participants.

The stipulations from Guinness are as follows:

  • Every participant must sign his or her name before two witnesses
  • Every kazoo player must be proficient (which isn’t difficult)
  • The ensemble must play for 5 consecutive minutes

So much to say, so little time to say it

Much has happened since my last blog update from the first day of classes. For one, another month has come and gone. You know what that means! Yes, all the random searches and other statistical information from Peter Anglea dot com! For those that are new this kind of stuff, this is basically some of the more random things that people have searched for (via Google, etc.) that led to them clicking on my site. These are from August.

  • lefthanders day - it should be a national holiday. people should get off work and all that jazz.
  • scholarship money for left-handers - I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to that.
  • sad violin.midi - have you nothing better to search for than this?
  • vio vgn - uh-huh, yeah… whatever.
  • 3-6-2-5-1 music progression - a typical chord progression indeed. I actually heard of a music teacher that lived in the 36251 zip code.
  • cardboard stationery for firefox - ok. hold on. who in the world uses cardboard stationery? and what would prompt firefox to join that trend?
  • finale 2007 compound duple - yeah, wouldn’t that would 6/8 time?
  • gum transplant pictures - no thank you. I made it a point to keep my eyes shut during my gum graft procedure.

The moral of the story is… be careful what you search for on my site. It might end up here.

On to other news. I’m going to try a new approach by filling you in what’s happening in my life in the third person. Sooo….. if my life were a newspaper, then here’s the latest headlines:

  • Practice Makes Perfect
Peter has been practicing a lot since his arrival on campus. Piano practice constitutes as much as 15 hours of his week. This is due to the fact that he will perform his junior recital early next semester and is working very hard to have 15-20 minutes of memorized music down pat. His current repertoire list can be found on the Music page of his website, PeterAnglea.com. In addition to practicing piano, Peter keeps himself busy with 4 hours of choir practice every week. He will be singing in a roughly 90 member choir on October 19th at Bob Jones University in a concert that will feature some of the best in 21st century choral literature. When asked about this upcoming concert, Peter replied, “It’s gonna be swweeeetttt!”
  • Three’s Company
At the beginning of the semester, Peter’s roommates consisted of three great guys - a junior, a sophomore, and a freshman. However, due to some financial issues which caused an APC (Assistant Prayer Captain) in another dorm to leave school, Peter’s junior roommate was asked to fill in the vacant spiritual leadership position in that room, to which he consented. While Peter, Paul, and Tyson were very sad to see him leave, they won’t lie - everyone enjoys a little more elbow room every now and then.
  • Day of Prayer
Students at Bob Jones University enjoyed a refreshing and relaxing Day of Prayer. All university classes were canceled and the day was devoted to prayer and praise to the Lord.
  • Coming to a Laptop Near You (for geeks only)
Ubuntu. Yes, that’s right. Peter has successfully partitioned his external hard drive and now has the ever-popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu (Feisty Fawn), up and running. He is enjoying the User Interface but wishes that other aspects were a bit more user friendly. Peter admits, “Perhaps it’s just my lack of experience [with Ubuntu] that contributes to my minor frustrations with it. I think I’m slowly getting over some of them.”

Until next time, folks…
