It’s the Day of Rest here, so I have time for a quick post.
This Friday evening (April 11th) at 7pm, the Bob Jones University Concert Choir under the direction of Mr. Matt Whitcomb will perform in the War Memorial Chapel. The concert will include works by Faure (Requiem), Rutter, Vaughn Williams, and Gustafson. The choir will be accompanied by a small chamber orchestra and the impressive Wicks pipe organ in the WMC.
Come if you are able!

If you are (or planning to be) in the Greenville area next week, I would like to invite you to my Junior piano recital next Thursday, March 6th at 7:00pm in FA224. For those of you that don’t know where that is, it’s in the middle of the second floor of the Fine Arts Building. The recital will only be about 20-25 minutes long, so hopefully that won’t conflict with any of you that might have plans to attend the opera that night. I will be playing music of Bach, Mozart, and Chopin (see Music page for more details).

After rehearsing some of the most amazing music in my life for the past month and a half, it’s hard to believe the concert is over. Overall, it went very well and Dr. Forrest had nothing but good things to say about it.
I was talking to a former music teacher of mine after the first performance. The first thing he said was something to the effect of, “That was probably the most amazing music I have heard in my life. Nothing was lacking.”
I was super-privileged to be a part of this choir, and in a sense, I think I had one of the best “seats” in the house - front row, dead center. I got to see and follow every one of Dr. Cook’s gestures. I’m sure the overall sound was better out in the house (what with the percussion and everything), so I can’t wait to hear the recording!
The next big thing for my choir (Concert Choir) is Christmas Vespers in December. We will be singing 5 numbers (4 of which I haven’t seen yet - we’ve been so busy working on Forrest music lately). More later…

If you are in the Greenville/Bob Jones area and haven’t yet procured (free) tickets for this Friday’s concert, consider this as a virtual elbow jab. *nudge* If you haven’t yet heard of this concert, let me fill you in.
This Friday, October 19th, the Bob Jones University Chorale and Concert Choir are joining forces for “ForrestFest: A Welcome Home Concert.” The concert, which will be performed at 6:30 and again at 8pm in Stratton Hall, features the works of Dan Forrest. The concert lineup is:
- Arise, Shine!
- Three Nocturnes for Chorus and Percussion
- Basque Lullaby
- You are the Music
- Oread Farewell
Dan Forrest will be speaking at the concert as well. Rehearsals for the concert have been going extremely well. I am very excited to be a part of this concert (singing Baritone). It will be a very rewarding concert both for us performing and especially for you, the listener.
UPDATE: I have good news and bad news. The good news is that we’re sold out, and the bad news is that we’re sold out… Non-ticketholders can still get in, though. You just won’t get your choice of seats.

Much has happened since my last blog update from the first day of classes. For one, another month has come and gone. You know what that means! Yes, all the random searches and other statistical information from Peter Anglea dot com! For those that are new this kind of stuff, this is basically some of the more random things that people have searched for (via Google, etc.) that led to them clicking on my site. These are from August.
- lefthanders day - it should be a national holiday. people should get off work and all that jazz.
- scholarship money for left-handers - I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to that.
- sad violin.midi - have you nothing better to search for than this?
- vio vgn - uh-huh, yeah… whatever.
- 3-6-2-5-1 music progression - a typical chord progression indeed. I actually heard of a music teacher that lived in the 36251 zip code.
- cardboard stationery for firefox - ok. hold on. who in the world uses cardboard stationery? and what would prompt firefox to join that trend?
- finale 2007 compound duple - yeah, wouldn’t that would 6/8 time?
- gum transplant pictures - no thank you. I made it a point to keep my eyes shut during my gum graft procedure.
The moral of the story is… be careful what you search for on my site. It might end up here.
On to other news. I’m going to try a new approach by filling you in what’s happening in my life in the third person. Sooo….. if my life were a newspaper, then here’s the latest headlines:
- Practice Makes Perfect
Peter has been practicing a lot since his arrival on campus. Piano practice constitutes as much as 15 hours of his week. This is due to the fact that he will perform his junior recital early next semester and is working very hard to have 15-20 minutes of memorized music down pat. His current repertoire list can be found on the Music page of his website, PeterAnglea.com. In addition to practicing piano, Peter keeps himself busy with 4 hours of choir practice every week. He will be singing in a roughly 90 member choir on October 19th at Bob Jones University in a concert that will feature some of the best in 21st century choral literature. When asked about this upcoming concert, Peter replied, “It’s gonna be swweeeetttt!”
- Three’s Company
At the beginning of the semester, Peter’s roommates consisted of three great guys - a junior, a sophomore, and a freshman. However, due to some financial issues which caused an APC (Assistant Prayer Captain) in another dorm to leave school, Peter’s junior roommate was asked to fill in the vacant spiritual leadership position in that room, to which he consented. While Peter, Paul, and Tyson were very sad to see him leave, they won’t lie - everyone enjoys a little more elbow room every now and then.
- Day of Prayer
Students at Bob Jones University enjoyed a refreshing and relaxing Day of Prayer. All university classes were canceled and the day was devoted to prayer and praise to the Lord.
- Coming to a Laptop Near You (for geeks only)
Ubuntu. Yes, that’s right. Peter has successfully partitioned his external hard drive and now has the ever-popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu (Feisty Fawn), up and running. He is enjoying the User Interface but wishes that other aspects were a bit more user friendly. Peter admits, “Perhaps it’s just my lack of experience [with Ubuntu] that contributes to my minor frustrations with it. I think I’m slowly getting over some of them.”
Until next time, folks…
