It’s the Day of Rest here, so I have time for a quick post.

This Friday evening (April 11th) at 7pm, the Bob Jones University Concert Choir under the direction of Mr. Matt Whitcomb will perform in the War Memorial Chapel. The concert will include works by Faure (Requiem), Rutter, Vaughn Williams, and Gustafson. The choir will be accompanied by a small chamber orchestra and the impressive Wicks pipe organ in the WMC.

Junior Recital

Posted by Peter on February 28th, 2008

Peter Anglea Junior Piano RecitalIf you are (or planning to be) in the Greenville area next week, I would like to invite you to my Junior piano recital next Thursday, March 6th at 7:00pm in FA224. For those of you that don’t know where that is, it’s in the middle of the second floor of the Fine Arts Building. The recital will only be about 20-25 minutes long, so hopefully that won’t conflict with any of you that might have plans to attend the opera that night. I will be playing music of Bach, Mozart, and Chopin (see Music page for more details).

BJU Bible Conference Fundraiser 2008

Posted by Peter on January 23rd, 2008

The object of the 2008 Bible Conference offering was announced today in chapel at BJU. Actually, two Bible Conference offerings (2008 and 2009) will be needed to raise the needed amount of money.

Dr. Stephen Jones unveiled the plans to renovate the front of Rodeheaver Auditorium - one of the auditoriums on campus which houses the major Shakespearean plays, the operas, and the annual Living Gallery presentation among other things. The plans call for a major makeover of the lobby area. It will extend out further allowing for more room for coat areas, a larger, more efficient ticket desk, new restrooms, and perhaps some displays, Dr. Jones said. The covered walks in front of Rodeheaver will also be new to match the other new covered walks already installed on campus. The covered walkways will lead right up to the lobby, as well.

Construction will begin soon after the 2008 Commencement Activities and will hopefully be completed by April of 2009 - just in time for the 2009 Living Gallery. Dr. Jones stated that the approximate cost of the project is around $1.75 million, hence the need for two very generous Bible Conference offerings.

Here are some computer renderings of the project:

Facebooking from Bob Jones

Posted by Peter on January 12th, 2008

If the title of this post threw you off guard a little bit . . . then it accomplished its purpose. It is a little bit misleading. Yes, Facebook is still blocked on campus. No, I’m not upset about it. In fact, it’s a good thing. I don’t want to check Facebook. I’m way too busy at school and I would get distracted easily. The last thing I need to be doing is to be wasting my precious free time facebooking. Most of my Facebook friends are here at school, too, so going online to write to them (as opposed to email) seems a bit pointless. As a side note, using the Facebook at School application is also forbidden (not to mention unethical in my way of thinking).

I have, however, found a work-around for keeping my off-campus friends up to date on my present status. I set this up over Christmas break and as I suspected, it works.

First, I set up an account with Twitter (twitter.com - which is also blocked on campus) over the break. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a social website which is basically a glorified Facebook Status Message. You’ll notice that I have my Twitter status posted in the right column of this site.

Next, I added the Twitter IM bot to my Google Talk buddy list. Now I can update my Twitter status via Instant Messenger. I simply type my status to the bot, and presto - it’s updated on Twitter.

The last step was to add a Facebook application to my profile which syncs my Facebook Status with Twitter. There are multiple apps that can do this. The one I use is called TwitterSync. This app checks my Twitter status every couple of minutes and updates my Facebook status accordingly.

Now I have a way to keep friends up to date via two methods - Twitter and Facebook. If you use one or the other, feel free to track me. What’s nice is that it’s effortless. A quick click on my buddy list and about 10 seconds to type a status is all it takes.

I hope that answers some questions. No, I’m not facebooking from campus. Yes, I’m updating my status. And how.

About Me

Peter is a Senior Church Music major pursuing his B.Mus. degree at Bob Jones University. He enjoys playing the piano, composing music, having fun with friends, and talking about himself in 3rd person. Due to the utter craziness of the semester, updates to this website may be few and far between, but keep your eyes peeled.
